FAQs
-
NISD Forward is a community-driven effort focused on transparency, accountability, and outcomes within Northwest ISD. We analyze publicly available data related to spending, staffing, leadership compensation, academic results, and vendor contracts to help parents and taxpayers make informed decisions.
-
No. NISD Forward is not affiliated with Northwest ISD or the district’s administration. It is an independent, citizen-led initiative.
-
Bond elections commit taxpayers to decades of repayment. We believe voters deserve clear information on how prior bond funds were spent, what results were achieved, and whether future spending aligns with classroom needs and student outcomes.
-
No. We are not anti-bond. We support school funding when it is:
Transparent
Tied to measurable outcomes
Focused on classrooms and students rather than administrative expansion
-
We rely on publicly available data, including:
Texas Education Agency (TEA) accountability ratings
Standardized assessment trends
Graduation and college-readiness indicators
These metrics allow comparisons over time and across districts.
-
Leadership compensation reflects priorities. When executive pay reaches extreme levels relative to teacher pay, district size, or academic outcomes, it raises legitimate questions about alignment, efficiency, and stewardship of public funds.
-
No. The issue is not legality—it is judgment, proportionality, and accountability. Taxpayers have the right to question whether compensation levels are reasonable and aligned with performance.
-
As districts grow, they are expected to benefit from economies of scale. When administrative staffing grows faster than student enrollment, it can indicate inefficiency and divert resources away from classrooms.
-
Student health, transparency, and accountability matter. When food services are outsourced to third-party vendors, parents lose visibility into:
Food sourcing
Ingredient quality
Staffing practices
We believe families deserve to know who is feeding their children and under what standards.
-
We do not make medical claims. We present ingredient labels and link to established public-health research so families can evaluate the information themselves.
-
We are pro-teacher! We strongly support teachers and classroom staff. Our concern is with bureaucratic growth and misaligned priorities, not educators. We advocate for increasing the average base salary of K-12 teaching staff in the district to $100,000 per year. We want to attract the best teachers in the country to NISD.
-
Yes. We believe competitive teacher pay improves retention, stability, and student outcomes and should be a higher priority than administrative expansion. We advocate for increasing average base pay for K-12 teachers to $100,000 per year.
-
All data comes from:
Public records
District documents
State and federal education databases
Official ingredient labels and vendor disclosures
Sources are cited so readers can verify everything themselves.
-
Our goal is to encourage:
Better prioritization of classroom spending
Greater transparency in leadership decisions
Improved academic outcomes
Stronger public trust
